When Does Distributed Geothermal Make Sense?
- Known low temperature (<300°F) resource: either shallow and easily accessible or drilled for another purpose (spa, agriculture, oil& gas well)
- Electrical demand for 25 to 125 kW
- Short distance to electrical load: either on-site power demand or easy interconnect to grid
- Value of electricity greater than 10 cents per kWh
Utilize local resources for clean, base load power production.
